Minicourses Comparative Effectiveness Research for Policy Professionals This course offers a primer on comparative effectiveness research (CER) aimed at non-researchers, especially policy analysts. Course participants will gain an understanding of the history of CER, its definitions and terminology, and its application to clinical decision making and health policymaking. International experts will present perspectives on the use of CER abroad, and national leaders will discuss efforts to integrate CER into the U.S. health system. Registration is required.
Using Research to Promote Policy Reform Participants will develop skills to translate research and communicate complex information effectively to policymakers. This course will explain the role of health services and policy research to inform health policymaking and advocacy efforts, as well as the barriers and aids to their success. Registration is required. This minicourse will be led by Shelley Hearne, Executive Director of Trust for America 's Health and professor in the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
